It has been some time since we last provided an update on what the SRCG committee has been up to over the last few months, but suffice to say that the team has been very busy.
By way of a reminder, our key objective is to get HS2 Ltd to reconsider its proposal to build a railhead on a narrow strip of land between the M6 Motorway and its planned Phase 2a railway on the western side of Stone, close to Walton, Cold Norton and Yarnfield. This scheme emerged last September as a replacement to HS2 Ltd’s original plan to locate the construction railhead near Crewe, and was formally consulted upon over an 8 week period that ended on 7th November last year. Following what many local residents considered to be an inadequate public consultation process, the SRCG was created and we soon formed a small engineering team, which was charged with analysing HS2 Ltd’s railhead proposals in detail.
At the end of January of this year we submitted our detailed evaluation of the Stone railhead proposals directly to Sir David Higgins, Chairman of HS2 Ltd, who has since agreed to our request for a face to face meeting with HS2 engineers. This meeting will soon take place, following which we will feedback news of the outcome of the discussions via this webpage and our social media outlets. We also hope to be in a position to share further details of our work and we appreciate your patience at this worrying time.
In the meantime, thank you for your continuing support!
Kind regards
SRCG Committee
